Dr. Livesay holds two Professional Certificates from the University of Vermont: one in Cannabis Plant Biology and one in Cannabis Science and Medicine. He consults for hemp clients across the United States and in South America and he has worked with multiple licensed cannabis cultivation facilities in Washington State since 2015, using a data driven approach to create custom nutrient plans (or “recipes”) for various cannabis cultivars in closed-loop, recirculating, aeroponic cultivation systems.
Having earned his Ph.D. in Research Methods and Interpersonal Communication from the University of Iowa in 2012, Dr. Livesay conducts independent research trials testing various products and practices with growers throughout the U.S. Since 2012 he has consulted for numerous state and national champions of the contests run by the National Corn Growers Association, National Soybean Association, National Wheat Growers Association, and the National Sorghum Producers. Dr. Livesay has numerous clients with documented corn yields of 300+ bushels per acre (the national average for corn yield is approximately 170 bushels per acre).
He is a sought-after speaker on a wide array of agricultural topics from commercial row crop to commercial cannabis production. He has been an invited speaker for non-profit organizations such as New Approach Missouri, the Pacific Northwest Direct Seeding Association (PNDSA), and the Alabama Soybean Association, and for for-profit companies such as Legend Seeds, DuPont Pioneer, Biovante, the Conklin Company, and GemmaCert. He currently serves as an ex officio board member of the PNDSA.
Dr. Livesay has provided free agronomy education through his occasional white papers, agronomy blog, podcast, and through his public and private Facebook groups. He has appeared in other prominent agricultural media including the Farm Journal, the Cannabis Business Times (please note the separate links in CBT), and various agriculturally focused radio stations and podcasts.

Dr. Jenkins has multiple publications in some of the world’s leading peer reviewed journals such as Nature – Plants, Nature – Ecology and Evolution, Plant, Cell and Environment, and New Phytologist. He specializes in carbon and energy budgets, plant gas-exchange, experimental design and plant hydraulics. Dr. Jenkins is the Chief Science Officer and CEO of a leading cannabis-based research company Rubisco Research and Consulting, a conglomerate of leading scientists that has come together to lead the scientific community in the cannabis industry.
